Artist's Description
The idea for this painting originated while we were floating alongside an anchored pontoon boat, enjoying a glorious day at Table Rock Lake with good friends in the southwest corner of Missouri. Conversations drifted to, "What if there actually was a large table, made out of rock, in the middle of the lake?" I decided to make that happen and go really big with the "table rock". Going with the natural beauty of the lake, I decided to make the giant rock slabs that make up the table as natural rock formations. The result is an epic 'table rock', made even more immense by the boats that are out on the lake which gives you an idea of scale. For anyone who has ever visited Table Rock Lake, this should be an instant hit as the ridiculousness of the visual, executed in a realistic way makes it extremely memorable. I think it's pretty cool, how about you?
About Thomas Blood
I consider myself to be a modern day surrealist, heavily influenced by my all-time favorite artist, Rene Magritte. I paint ideas. My goal is to paint the impossible, or at least, the highly improbable. With my paintings, you can always tell what's going on, you just don't necessarily know why. I want my paintings to tell stories that make you think. And if I can bring a smile to your face, that's even better. Enjoy! And please consider buying an item or two - they make excellent conversation starters!

An outstanding illustration of a unique concept !..it seems perfectly reasonable to have such a natural looking monolith, created by ancient geological forces…
