My on-going homage to Magritte continues. This painting is a follow-up to, "A Man On A Bird On A Wire". It recently sold and I decided I wanted to explore another treatment using my 'little man'. I decided to put him on top of the big man's bowler hat. The moment I had the idea, I knew I had to paint it. Having it be just the two figures against some big, puffy clouds makes it an interesting, whimsical and fun painting. I call it "Alter Ego" because in a sense, Magritte and all he stands for is a part of my own ego. With this painting, the man takes his alter ego with him wherever he goes!
I consider myself to be a modern day surrealist, heavily influenced by my all-time favorite artist, Rene Magritte. I paint ideas. My goal is to paint the impossible, or at least, the highly improbable. With my paintings, you can always tell what's going on, you just don't necessarily know why. I want my paintings to tell stories that make you think. And if I can bring a smile to your face, that's even better. Enjoy!
