A red high heel is perched on a beach with the ocean as a backdrop. There's no indication of the owner of the high heel or even of the other heel, creating a bit of a mystery as to why it's there in the first place. Why would someone be walking in heels on a beach? Where is the owner of the heel? Has she gone into the water? This strange combination of a red high heel that is clearly out of its element is meant to get one wondering. The overall roughness of the sand and the water, and the sleek look of the shoe makes it stand out even more in this acrylic on canvas painting.
I consider myself to be a modern day surrealist, heavily influenced by my all-time favorite artist, Rene Magritte. I paint ideas. My goal is to paint the impossible, or at least, the highly improbable. With my paintings, you can always tell what's going on, you just don't necessarily know why. I want my paintings to tell stories that make you think. And if I can bring a smile to your face, that's even better. Enjoy!
