Artist's Description
We're inside a small, dark walled room, looking out on a body of water with a small, rock island on which there's a rocking chair. Over on the right, there's a suitcase and above it, hanging from a rack are a suit jacket along with a bowler hat. There are two windows, both revealing a look at the water. Inside, it feels almost claustrophobic, even while looking out on the water just beyond. In front of one window, there's a ladder.
What could this all mean? Did the owner of the bowler hat and suit jacket climb out the window and try and swim out to the small rock island to have a seat on the rocking chair? Where could he be?
This painting is meant to be somewhat of a mystery. It's dark tones add to the drama. This is a far darker color palette than my normal works and proved to be quite the challenge to paint as even the right side wall contains about nine different colors, not all of which are recognizable. I'll be intrigued to see what people have to say about this one!
About Thomas Blood
I consider myself to be a modern day surrealist, heavily influenced by my all-time favorite artist, Rene Magritte. I paint ideas. My goal is to paint the impossible, or at least, the highly improbable. With my paintings, you can always tell what's going on, you just don't necessarily know why. I want my paintings to tell stories that make you think. And if I can bring a smile to your face, that's even better. Enjoy! And please consider buying an item or two - they make excellent conversation starters!

Congratulations on your win, Thomas. This is a great mystery. I love the sense of doom and dispair and yet...??? What does it mean? Nicely done. f/l
Thomas Blood replied:
Thank you, AnnaJo! I try and create story appeal with all of my paintings. You are correct in that this one is a bit on the dark side, at least on the inside of the cramped room. Generally, I try and be a bit more optimistic and playful with my work which I think you'll see if you visit any of my other paintings. Most of all, I thank you for taking the time to comment. It is truly appreciated!

Thomas Blood replied:
Hi, Stephen. In less than an hour voting closes for another contest ... Could you please go to the Contest page and in the voting category, find 'Clues'? Open it up and please give my Vanished painting a vote! I know it means nothing in the grand scheme of things but for once, I would like to win one of these silly contest on here! Much appreciated.
