Artist's Description

A woman sits atop a giant boulder that is floating above ocean waves. Apparently, she used the floating stones that lead to the boulder to get there. The idea for this painting came to me while listening to the Monkeys, "Steppingstone" song. Beyond that, there's a bit of Magritte and an ode to Roger Dean, combined with my own vision of how this should be. I had great fun painting the clouds. The waves, not so much as they proved to be quite challenging. In real life, this is a stunning image due to the large size of the canvas. One can only imagine the view the woman is enjoying as she looks out from her extremely unique vantage point.

About Thomas Blood

Thomas Blood

I consider myself to be a modern day surrealist, heavily influenced by my all-time favorite artist, Rene Magritte. I paint ideas. My goal is to paint the impossible, or at least, the highly improbable. With my paintings, you can always tell what's going on, you just don't necessarily know why. I want my paintings to tell stories that make you think. And if I can bring a smile to your face, that's even better. Enjoy! And please consider buying an item or two - they make excellent conversation starters!
