This is the third time that I've painted a rock and a roll in my on-going ampersand paintings where I take common expressions and give them a visual twist. So why is this the third time I've painted Rock & Roll? The first two sold and I really like this concept. With each of the versions, I've used a different rock and a different roll but essentially the same background color palette. I actually thing this might be the most striking execution yet of the three but I'll leave that up to my viewers to decide.
I consider myself to be a modern day surrealist, heavily influenced by my all-time favorite artist, Rene Magritte. I paint ideas. My goal is to paint the impossible, or at least, the highly improbable. With my paintings, you can always tell what's going on, you just don't necessarily know why. I want my paintings to tell stories that make you think. And if I can bring a smile to your face, that's even better. Enjoy! I like this version the most, the rock is rocky and the roll is fluffy, suggestive of some Rock & Roll songs with a heavy bass line and a lyrical melody line…
