The world's population of Monarch butterflies continue to be in danger. For some reason, I decided to do a painting featuring these winged insects and they proved to be quite the challenge. I decided to once again feature my on-going tribute to Magritte by using a man in bowler hat, standing with his back turned to the viewer. Monarch butterflies are flying by him and off into the distance with one spending a few brief moments on his hat. The title of the painting refers to the simple fact that these gorgeous and important cog in nature's cycle may not be around much longer. Somehow, I hope mankind can figure out a way to keep the species going.
I consider myself to be a modern day surrealist, heavily influenced by my all-time favorite artist, Rene Magritte. I paint ideas. My goal is to paint the impossible, or at least, the highly improbable. With my paintings, you can always tell what's going on, you just don't necessarily know why. I want my paintings to tell stories that make you think. And if I can bring a smile to your face, that's even better. Enjoy! And please consider buying an item or two - they make excellent conversation starters!

Thank you for sharing the plight of the Monarch Butterfly. They simply can't leave us. They are too beautiful and important to us.

I am hoping the butterflies have more intelligence than the human species. L
